Re: [T3] San Francisco Shops, Parts and Auto Body

I can speak to their service - I had a superdeep sump taken off my '69
Bug (I was banging it on things, and I decided that couldn't be good for
it). I don't know why it was out, but they put the relief valve
together BACKWARDS (spring in, then piston, then cap screw) and, thus,
couldn't get oil pressure.

So, because they couldn't identify the magical device that was filtering
the oil (a Berg kit), they decided it was at fault, and insisted that it
was the problem. So, they took it off (with permission - it was brand
new to me, so I didn't know what it was - fortunately, I kept all the
take-off parts).

Nope. Still no pressure at idle. The "solution" was "rev the engine a
little at stop lights" (which, of course, made the oil light go out).

I only found the relief problem myself later when I bought one of those
old EMPI pressure booster kits - I didn't need it (obviously).
