<x-flowed> >That would be really interesting. >Actually, one of the projects I was thinking of for parma >would be to record a large number of type3 engines >and then do an analysis of the frequency spectrum >of each engine. I have computer code >which does this (they are easily available on the web) Interesting idea, I would imagine that a very high quality mic would be needed to be able to record the subtle sounds though. It would also be imperative that the microphone was placed in exactly the same position each time a recording was made. Exhaust systems would play a great part as well in the way the engine sounded. The hardest part would be to get a large group of engines in "perfect" shape to get a good baseline recording. If you had say 20 engines in identical shape they should sound similar, you might then be able to analyze the sounds and come up with a "normal" frequency spectrum. Sounds like a big project :) _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe </x-flowed>
