Maybe pressures are not as important with radials as they were with bias-ply tyres. I came to the conclusion almost 30 years ago that 20/30 f/r was right for the Variant for normal loads (like my VW-twin Jim, naturally!), with 18/28 for the Beetle. I've never tried wildly unusual pressures though, like 32/28, though I did use about 24/40 when I carried about 1000 lbs of flooring panels and 200 lbs of roofing lead for the house extension! Doh! I've just read further down the list and there's Jim's same comment about radials and bias ply tyres; spooky eh? Dave.
