I put in a new windscreen washer nozzle on my Type 34, and then replaced the original air-pressure system with a small electric pump, which is in fact from a VW, although of course a later one. I found the hose easily enough locally. The type I got was clear transparent plastic and it seems to do the job. The pump needs a wider type of hose, so I had to shove the narrower hose into the wider one, which luckily worked. I just greased the narrower one and rammed it as far as I could into the wider one, and it doesn't seem to leak. The pump is operated by a discretely placed doorbell switch iunder the dash. The biggest pain was installing the actual washer nozzle. It was a brand new SWF part, and it would only fit if the paint around the hole was exactly the same thickness as original VW paint. As my paint was considerably thicker than the original, I exercised a considerable part of my vocabulary fitting the thing, until I realised what the problem was. I then scraped away some paint (which I will need to get professionally finished at a later date anyway), and it just snapped in and has been there ever since. Another minor problem is that because I am using an OEM VW water bottle, the pump creates a vacuum in the bottle if the lid is screwed on, and so it won't pump any more. You can probably get around this just by not screwing the lid all the way on, or by removing the gasket inside the lid. I know this isn't really what you have in mind, but I thought it might interest someone.
