Seems appropriate). Anyway, I pulled her engine last night without difficulty and today I set about giving it the once over. This is the engine that was in the car when I bought it and I only gave it a good cleaning and check-up. It has NOT been rebuilt. When I first went through it I had one head stud pull out. I replaced it with a self-tapping stud for the interim. It has been performing nicely. Has decent power, gets right around 20 mpg with short trip city driving. I have been quite happy. Anyway, I ended up replacing the clutch disc. The original was quite shot and it chattered badly occasionally. I fixed a few exhaust leaks. I then went to check the torque on the head studs which was the reason for pulling the enigne in the first place. To make a long story shorter, I had one stud pull-out. I replaced it with another self-tapping stud and everything went back together. I then set the valves and buttoned it up and put it back in. Fired up right away and runs as good as before. I am more comfortable with the engine having gone through it again, but the pulling head studs makes the rebuild of the Fasty engine for transplant more imperative. On that note, what are peoples opinions about cast vs. forged piston & cyinder (P&C) sets? Looks like it is close to a 2 to 1 cost difference. For a stock rebuild, are the cast P&C OK? BTW, I did manage to get some pictures of the thermostat flaps and control rods and stuff. I will post them to my website tomorrow afternoon.
