[T3] tie rod end

This weekend I replaced the tie rod end on the drivers side inner (on
the steering arm) with the straight version.  Went together fine. 
Checked for binding during steering arm travel and all was fine.  I
could not check for binding at ride height because the car is too low
to see under.  I will have to find time to get the car on the
alignment rack at the local VW dealer and check for binding then (at
ride height).  Car acts much better!
I know there is a reason for the bend in the tie rod, but maybe the
straight will work with a slightly shorter life expentancy.  Time will
tell.
