Not quite. It says TOTAL weight of 1080. That really means total. The tongue weight depends on how that weight is distributed around the trailer's axle. Keep in mind that ALL this weight is carried by the rear bumper mounts which are just spot welded to body sheet metal to the inside of the engine compartment. Most of this metal is much less strong than it was 30 years ago. Damage in this area always comes as a surprise to people who assume that the trailer hitch adds some strength to the body.
