<x-charset iso-8859-1> Ethanol does not have more energy per the same volume as gasoline but you can run much higher compression and advance the timing more to squeeze out more power. Those of you who experienced more power with the switch to an alcohol blend fuel probably had very low octane gasoline to start, higher compression and/or your timing was a little advaced for the gasoline. I used to ride a motorcycle in the subtropics that ran on gasoline, kerosine or alcohol and it all depended on what type of fuel was available in certain villages . I had to change my head gasket to a different thickness and my timing when I switched to a different fuel. It only took 10 minute to change my gasket. Alcohol was my favorite fuel because I could increase the compression and timing and almost double my power compared to cheap gasoline. It explodes slower that gasoline because of the high octane thus more efficient use of the fuel molecules .
