<x-charset iso-8859-1>Mine doesn't actually fall all the way to the bottom either. Sorry about being unclear earlier. Think its just a simple VW thing also that keeps the oil from splashing up the tube. -----Original Message----- From: Steven Ayres [mailto:comwest@att.net] Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2002 1:03 PM To: T3 List Subject: Re: [T3] dipstick stopper GregM=> Isn't that the point of the stopper being => there? To give you an accurate measure of the => oil level? Or does the dipstick bottom out on the => case, with the stopper actually just being a "plug" => to keep oil from going up the tube? The dipstick does bottom out, that's why there's a spring in the shaft. I've always taken that rubber piece to be just a bumper to keep the stick from rattling in the tube. Mine's loose, too, but not loose enough to fall to the bottom.
