Re: [T3] Newbie question: engine conversion

<x-charset iso-8859-1>Hugo=> Is it possible to use/convert a type 2
=> engine in a type 3 fastback?

You didn't find it in the archives because we generally speak of Buses using
either Typ 1 or Type 4 engines. The early Bus engines are equivalent to
Beetle engines. If the Bus engine is built on a 'universal' case, it can be
converted to Type 3 use -- basically you'll have to strip both engines down
to the long blocks and redress the Bus engine with Type 3 parts. If it's an
OEM Type 1 case, it's probably more hassle than it'll be worth. Look for a
bolted-on cover for the Type 3 oil filler on the lower right rear corner of
the case.

You didn't say what year is your Fasty -- a later car mating with a much
earlier Bus can lead to additional complications, so YMMV.
