This MAY be the problem, or at least part of it. This is NOT a type 3 brain; a 
type 3 brain would have the first 3 digits 311. This is a type 4 brain, and I 
really don't know how well or poorly it should work in your car.

Check the mechanical advance: Remove the cap and twist the rotor CW. It 
should turn freely and pop back on its own when you release it. You can also 
see this happening when you watch the timing marks with the timing light. 
The marks should march smoothly to the left as you give it gas and slide 
smoothly back as you release the throttle.

If it were sticky, it MIGHT stick until it gets hot, and then work freely again. 
Lack of advance will certainly cost you lots of power.
