<x-charset iso-8859-1>> If I had the schematics, I could decipher them prior to attempting to dismantle the clock. > The later clock has a transistor, a couple of resistors and two coils (is there a diode too?). The transistor is on and energises one coil to pull the (magnetised?) pendulum across, which induces a voltage in the other coil opposing the emitter bias, switching off the transistor and the attracting coil. The pendulum then swings back again to repeat the process. It's just an electromagnetic impulse to keep the pendulum going. The pendulum movement operates an escapement and gearing to the seconds shaft and hence minutes and hours. (Errors and omissions excepted - I've not looked inside one for many years). I've a schematic somewhere but not in the most obvious places 'cos I've looked there! Dave.
