Okay, you've discovered a flaw in the Bentley that I hadn't noticed. There is
no click in the 70-3 throttle valve switches. You have to use an Ohmmeter
between terminals 17 and 14 on the disconnected TVS (ignition OFF.) If your
TVS is a later replacement they introduced an internal stop that will let you
"feel" the right spot.

You have to make sure that the throttle valve closes on its own also. If the
TVS is misadjusted it can hold the throttle open, so you should check for
that at the same time.

There's no need to plug any hoses, but it does no harm, either.

Your timing marks should look like: | | | |.

5 BTDC is the left most mark. Is this what you used?

Everything else sounds right.

Have you checked the charging system regulating voltage and the fuel
pressure? Valves adjusted? SP wires hooked up right? 1432....

Are you coming to Parma? ;-)
