<x-charset iso-8859-1>A weird side-note... I was having a great deal of trouble with my shifter recently. Had trouble getting it into 4th (hit 2nd instead) and was just loose all around. The weird part was the entire shifter seemed to be spinning around. About half of you just said "bushing" didn't you? The spring below the stock shifter was popping the lever up so high that the guide pin was coming out of the groove in the socket (in the shift rod) and allowing it to move all around. But it still had enough touching it that it could (sometimes) hit gears. I changed shifters (Bugpack T-handle) and the problem was totally cured. It looks like someone messed something up when they changed the bushing. Anyway, I liked going against the grain and saying maybe I am right for once. :-) Side note, for those who don't know, the aftermarket shifter I put in does not just bolt up and go very well. I had to grind down the reverse lockout pin, and the plate that goes under the shifter just to hit all of the gears. It was about a 4 hour process to get reverse to work. The rusty Empi trigger I had laying around worked in about 4 minutes. Oh, well the new one works now!
