I use 3 street elbows at the top oil entry point and 2 where the oil exits the 
pump. This lets the oil exit to the left and avoids ground clearance problems.

I mount the filter base on the left side of the rear mount crossbar. This lets 
me do ALL the plumbing while the engine is on the bench, but it requires 
some rather odd fittings at the filter base to get the the oil there and back. I'll 
try to post some pictures somewhere when I do this again this spring.

If done this way, no fan housing metal removal is necessary, only a total of 
about 2 feet of hose is needed, and the both ends of both hoses are 
accessible in case they ever have to be replaced.
