With my cars, I don't equate "entering in the show" with "let's
see if I can get a trophy". I don't own a trophiable car. Rather, for
me, it's...

o getting a little goody bag of VW stuff (usually) with entry

o having a "home base" on the show grounds where I can keep food,
sunscreen, etc., and store swap meet scores... without having to get my
hand stamped, trek out to a parking lot, etc.

o having a place to meet people -- "let's meet at my car -- you
can find it, as it's in the Type III section, white '69 Square, with my
name on it, see you at noon"

o a place to chill out in the shade (esp. if I've brought my bus),
keep a folding chair, etc.

o a place to store books, odd parts, whatever that I've brought to
show/discuss with other folks

	o a way to meet people... "hey, I've got a '69 AT too -- can I see
how your whatzit is hooked up??" or, "say, I've got some parts for your
car -- you want them for free?"

o a good reference if you're buying swap parts -- "let me go see
if it looks like this'll fit my car before I make you an offer"

Really, "entering" vs. not entering helps turn a VW show from a
spectator sport into something fun to *do*. Also... would you rather see
4 creampuff Type IIIs (not that there's anything wrong with
that</seinfeld>) or 10 Type IIIs, four of which were creampuffs, a couple
of which were nice daily drivers, and the rest projects? I'll take the
latter.

	I don't think you pre-reg @ Kelley Park, btw -- just show up. :)
