I own two Type 34's and one Type 3 pickup (formerly a hatchback). I dont think Type 3 owners are more "mature". Maybe more thick skinned? What I don't like about Type 3's is the scarcity of parts. That artificially pumps up prices to astronomical levels. A tachometer is an example part. To be true to a restoration, one has to pay about $700 for a good tach. A modern tach, meanwhile, runs about $200. A steering wheel is another example ... a replacement steering wheel costs about $300 for a good one. But one can replace a steering wheel with a modern, leather covered wheel for about $100. I rather like the other ole boy's claim about Free Beer! Not really, just gets one's attention. My Type 3's are older cars. I'm into older 49 - 56 VW's these days. I just had a 49 engine rebuilt for $813.
