I was going to wait until the weekend, but I couldn't help it. I installed my fresh engine last night and this evening I finished the connections and instaling the exhaust. I put some fresh super unleaded in it and after pre-lubing the engine, it fired right up!! It runs wonderfully quiet as compared to the old motor (with the exception of the extractor exhaust system), has 40psi of oil pressure cold @idle, and 20psi warm @idle. I still have to sync the carbs and set timing with the light (set it with ohm meter per Haynes), but DAMN is it nice to hear that old girl run again! On another note, I used the POR20 high temp coating on my exhaust system (after sandblasting it) and the stuff works wonderfully. I half expected it to start burning off, but it smoked lightly for about 5 mins, and then cured to a very hard, satin finish. The stuff was pricy, but worth it as far as I'm concerned. Does anybody have any lengthy experience with this coating? How does it hold up over time?
