Is that with the car sitting still, or coasting?? If the noise is there, when sitting still, and in neutral, then it is probably the mainshaft bearing.(item 11, fig. 9-18, page 41, chapter 1), in the Bentley manual. If it is only there when you are moving, then it is probably the pinion bearing.(item 18a (for your '73) fig. 9-46, page 50).
