Rob, Pick up a copy of How To Keep Your Volkswagen Alive, By John Muir. Open to page 97 and begin Reading. Follow the paragraphs pertinent to type 3 vehicles, and note that on page 101 he talks about models older than 65 (this has to do with what your valve settings should be for long stud vs. short stud 40 horse motors. My advice would be to set all the valves to .006". Good luck, Chris -----Original Message----- From: Rob Carpenter [mailto:brnagn7@yahoo.com] Sent: Sunday, March 31, 2002 10:52 PM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: [T3] valve adjustment Hello all, well its been quite a while since ive been back to this site, or online for that matter. Anyone ever have over 3600 emails? I just deleted them what a pain it took forever. Anyways greetings to all, my question is my notch seems to run fine but ive been told to always maintain and adjust the valves, which I think its time to. How do I adjust the valves?? Thanx, Rob '63 Notch __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
