The torsion bars cross over in the middle of the axle tube. The fixed end is
above the pivot point for the trailing arm. This means that the trailing
arms are symmetrical and so are the ball-joints.

Neither arm is behind the other. Unlike the back of a Renault 16 where the
torsion bars and trailing arms really are staggered.
