Wow, what a day. I get my transmission in yesterday, and get everything sorted out and running perfectly after switching out the shifter so I have 4 forward and 1 reverse (WOOOHOOO!!). Nothing like being able to cruise the city backwards ;). BTW, thanks everyone for the help on that one. Then I'm driving along the freeway and I get a flat. No spare. No jack. It's raining. In California. On the side of the freeway. Cell phone. Call friend. He brings all the helpful tools. Needless to say, I finally get the car back to my house and take my friend's spare off, throw on an extra tire of my own and start letting her down, when all of a sudden there's a loud (metal) snapping sound. The jack was still secure, so I resumed lowering the car. It wouldn't stop until it bottomed out. Insert constant stream of cuss words here. I amazed even myself with my newfound vocabulary. So was my neighbor. And their 10 year old daughter. So, basically I'm asking any ideas other than that the torsion bar snapped? And if it did, do they make new ones? Are they the same bars as can be found in the same year or later bugs? Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Kris Kuckowicz P.S. The previous owner did lower and raise the car quite often if that is of any wonder _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
