Not quite sure exactly what you're describing here (the throttle 
body is the lowermost part of the carburetor,) but the

Any oil should work its way into the pedal pivot, but you may need 
to take the pedal cluster out, clean it off, and lubricate everything 
with some grease for the best results. Problems like this are most 
often caused by decades worth of dirt accumulation in there.

Grease is a better long term lubricant because it stays where you 
put it; oil will evenutally migrate away.
