Hi again all... Today I tried to remove my distributor so I could get at the ball bearing and the assembly that holds it (the ball bearing is there, as is the holding clip, but the points breaker plate moves up and down and prevents the points from opening still). I removed the hold down nut and was able to free the dizzy; however, there is a rod towards the generator belt that prevented the adjusting bolt from clearing. It's a tight fit, I tried to get the clamp to clear the hold down bolt so that I could turn the dizzy to clear this rod, but no dice. The rod slides from side to side through part of the engine case so I can't figure out what it's purpose is. What is this rod? Do I need to remove it to take the dizzy out? Is there a trick I'm missing to remove my distributor? Also, from reading another post on stalling/hard to start... my car's problems are more likely when the engine is hot. So when I take the distributor out, I plan to clean the trigger points with a clean piece of paper at that time. I also intend to check the fuel tank for rust and treat as necessary. -jim- (Sorry my post is so long... but I don't know how else to describe that rod!) ===== all new and now with genuine meat by-products... http://www.machobeagle.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
