I don't know about the > earlier years. I have a '71 FB and a 72 SB and i have two different shapes of mirrors and the SB one has a longer arm on the passenger side. It is not as areodynamicly shaped as the FB's. the FB's is alot skinnier and has an little "hump" where the arm attaches to the mirror itself....the squareback is just raised all over and overall is thicker than the FB's I will have the picture up on my website as soon as i can scan it.... i just compared the drivers side SB mirror to my boyfriends '74 super beetle mirror....his mirror is slightly taller and shorter long ways and the arm is thicker and shorter and also has a black ring around the mirror itself...oh and of course the part number is different.. but he says that there really is no difference....
