Re: [T3] '66 heater cables

The replacement set screw tip is approx. 1/8" dia. X 1" long for
the clamping surface, and then the O.D. for the set screw area is
about 3/8"dia X 3/8" long. Unfortunately the set screw on my example
is seized and I've pretty much stripped the socket trying to remove
it...
I'm familiar with the under seat clamps. Russ do you still have
the old cable setup available? I like your idea of splicing in
another good cable end.
Regarding the off idle hesitation, it's gone! I drove the car for
the first time since balancing. The only adjustment I made was to
open up the idle mixture screws. Of course now that I re-read the
manual ("Look listen do it better", VW dual carb manual avail at
Everett's site
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/type3/literature/manuals/t3dualcarbtuning/index.htm
) it says the mixture screw is used "to ensure a smooth transfer in
the lower speed range". Drivability is so much better, now I realize
how hard I had been working to drive it; feathering the clutch, etc.
