> I am finding that my front end is swaying alot and particularly badly > in high winds. The light front end is affected by sidewinds, but it's not normally all that bad on a Type 3. What pressure is in the tyres - should be 17 to 20 psi (which sounds very low, but is correct for 165X15 tyres). Too high a pressure makes it more skittish on the front. If they are OK, pull outwards and push inwards on the top of the wheel. If it moves a lot, the upper bar that ties the two upper torsion arms has probably slipped out of adjustment. On the left side of the car there is a clamping screw with a taper that tightens into a countersunk hole in the flat part of the bar. The hole may have become elongated, or maybe the screw is simply loose. There is a locking nut around it too. Once this is sorted, the opposite end has a screw in it with a lock-plate; it needs adjustment to remove remaining freeplay - avoid overtightening, and ensure the lock-plate is effectively clamped around the screw head. BTW I guess your sig. should say '68 Squareback (or some year) not '78? Dave.
