In the back, use anything you can reach that is part of the rear subframe: torsion tubes, torsion tube end flanges, rear swing arms. DON'T just jack up under a random body part or under the engine. Don't jack under the rear axles, either IRS or swing. The factory jack points are all getting pretty rusty by now and really should not be used. Even when new, they were often abused as you describe, or by failing to set the parking brake and having the car roll once jacked up. Don't use the OE jack points, buy a cheap scissors jack to keep in the trunk for emergencies. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
