For the 1967 model year (Chassis numbers 317 xxx xxx, 347 xxx xxx and 367 xxx xxx) onwards a 12volt electrical system became standard on all German-made Type 3s. This was also the case with Type 2s. But, 12 volt electrics did not become standard for Type 1 Beetles and Ghias until the 1968 model year. However, for Type 1 Beetles and Ghias a 12 volt electrical system was an option (M 610) during the 1967 model year and all US-spec Beetles and Ghias were fitted with this option for 1967. My question is this: Was VW Option M 610 (12 volt electrics) an option for Type 3s and for Type 1 Beetles and Ghias in the 1966 model year? It was for Type 2s.
