<x-charset iso-8859-1>I've just looked up a handbook dated August '71 (printed 1/72) which lists 0.006" for both inlet and exhaust. This is a German-printed book for a UK car. The August '67 ('68MY) book has both clearances at 0.004"! ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Adney <jadney@vwtype3.org> > On 29 Oct 2001, at 18:53, Russ Wolfe wrote: > > > I just checked my '71 owners manual, (page 96), and the recommended valve > > clearance is .006 for both intake and exhaust. > > Jesus, Russ, just when we thought we had started to make sense > out of this you go and get us all confused again! ;-) > > My .004 manual was printed in Germany in 8/71.
