I think Berg makes the point in one of his older catalogs, that anything you can buy anywhere, he can buy also and sell it at a profit. Virtually all of this stuff is available to anyone in the business, so it's just a matter of who bothers to carry it. It is EXTREMELY unlikely that MoFoCo could afford to pay someone to make a casting, etc, just for them. Consider the forged counterweighted cranks that Berg had made 10-15 years back; they cost over $1000 at that time, and it was mostly because of the cost of making a small custom run of forgings by the OE supplier to VW.
