<x-charset iso-8859-1>I think the quality of some of the aftermarket (type 1) chrome shrouding has a lot to do with the difference in apparent engine temperature. The aftermarket stuff I've seen never fits as good as the original. I'd be interested to hear about the findings of anyone who has had the original shrouding chromed. I believed that if it wasn't in contact with the engine oil, then the effects are minimal.
