RE: [T3] Chrome or not to chrome? (engine)

<x-charset iso-8859-1>I think the quality of some of the aftermarket (type 1) chrome shrouding has a lot to do with the difference in apparent engine temperature. The aftermarket stuff I've seen never fits as good as the original.

I'd be interested to hear about the findings of anyone who has had the original shrouding chromed.

I believed that if it wasn't in contact with the engine oil, then the effects are minimal.

i had stock cooling tins on my 67 bug , it had Scat Nylon pushrod tubes , i
had no problems at all , i put chrome cooling tins on the motor the nylon
push rod tubes melted like a paper bag .. id say there is a big change in
the heat that chrome draws
