<x-charset iso-8859-1>>> I understand what you're saying, but I'm not sure if there is a direct >> connection between the chrome and the overheating. i read in gene berg's literature that the chrome tin overheating problem arises from improper or missing directional vanes. the vanes of a stock fan shroud (at least in a type 1) are there and are in exactly the position they are in after hundreds of hours of testing by intelligent german engineers. the cheap chrome knock-offs have never had the same vanes or are missing them at times. for type 3's, since we can't get chrome tin and can only chrome our stock tin, i believe we wouldn't suffer this problem. however, on type ones, the directional vanes issue and the reflection of radiated heat probably compound eachother to increase the problem.
