My question is can I put my pair of stock carbs on > it and still have the AT work fine? If it runs, then it can't be all that screwed up. It will be somewhat easier and a lot cheaper to just get things straightened out a bit. Besides, the 71 FI is just about the best. If you switch to carbs, plan to take a good long time getting them jetted right so things work as they should. No matter who you buy them from and no matter what they tell you before you buy them, the carbs won't be jetted right when you get them. And the parts you will need will not be easy to find. And you will have to make up a way to use the kickdown switch. You'll also have to figure out a way to hook up the vacuum modulator on the AT. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
