The company I used to work for used an AMP connector part which AMP discontinued. When we inquired about getting some more of these it eventually came out that they would be happy to make more if we bought $100,000 worth AND if we paid to make new tooling to the tune of an additional $100,000. After a few weeks of disbelief we actually went along with this and forked over the $200,000. I still can't believe we went for that. Several years later, we thought it might be a good idea to have more made, so we inquired again and got the same answer. We replied that they already had the tooling which we had already paid for. They responded that they had thrown it out and if we wanted more we would have to buy yet another set of tooling. We asked how they could throw out tooling which belonged to us without consulting us and they simply ignored us. Apparently you have to be MUCH more than a $200,000 customer to be worth their consideration. We stopped buying all AMP connectors, but I don't think they could have cared less. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
