subject: [T3] Hesitation Yesterday I was speaking to a former VW Tech. and we discussed the hesitation of the early (1962 models) single carb. engines. Perhaps the list will recall my posting on this. Anyway this tech. says that platinum point spark plugs will solve the hesitation problem. I would not have considered the problem to be plugs back in 1961 , but perhaps this is so. Also there were not platinum plugs available at that time, as far as I know. I know VW went to a lot of trouble installing new bell cranks, and acceleration pumps, etc. to the carb. and nothing worked. One had to just give an extra squirt of gasoline with the gas pedal to get a smooth start up a stop sign or light and get used to it. Would like to hear the list's opinions on solving this problem. Also, has anyone had success installing twin carbs on the earlier 1500 single carb engines? I am considering doing this on my T343. What is involved other than going to dual port intake heads.
