It is almost NEVER necessary, and you are more likely to damage 
something than to cure anything. If your charging system is 
working AT ALL it is definitely not needed.

In 30 years, I have only come across 1 VW which needed to be 
repolarized, and that one had serious problems that started when 
the owner installed his new battery backwards.
