The "thumb" test is really hard to do. Like compression and 
octane, some numbers would help.

The bottom line is that unless you're planning on using non stock 
valves, cam or high RPMs then the stock springs will be just fine.

The last years of type 3s went down to 7.2. I try to keep it under 
that just because I think we can depend on even premium octane 
to slowly come down in the future. Can you remember when 
Regular was 92 Octane?
