I have been using a tire brand from > Korea that is both inexpensive and of good quality. The brand name is > JUPITER. They are usually a special order but the tire people at 3 > different tire stores seem to be able to get them in a day. Of course > that is Los Angeles area. I use these tires on our Squareback, Ghia, > Camray, and van. The 165R15 tire costs $32 and is Treadwear rated at > 320. They are called SB-802 165R15. Traction is "A" and Temp is "B". > They usually use a small tire weight, if none at all, they are so well > made. I ususally get at least 45,000 miles out of these tires. > > Keep um on the Road.....Pat@Volksclocks Hey I used these same tires before I switched to the 5.5" stock-look chrome wheels and Toyo tires on my Notch. The Jupiters are very nice, quiet tires and they have a classic look to them. They aren't just holdovers from another era, either - between the time I got the four road tires and went back for the spare, they had changed the tread design on me. Well anyways, it was just neat to hear about someone else using the same tires and having the same luck with them as me. Freddie Lochner http://devoted.to/my69notch 69 Notch (still in pieces) 66 Fasty (sorta not with us any longer) P.S. - Pat, I wasn't able to save the clock guts (heavy handed oops), but the conversion went well for a first try. My old 6V clock is now a 6K rpm tach! I think it is great, and I was able to use the minute hand, so now it just looks like it is Noon when the engine is off. I'll get pictures, maybe a movie of it in action one of these days. I also (painstakingly) shoved/pulled another wire all the way through my new wiring harness for the tach lead so it will come into the engine with all of the others and look fairly stock - it's yellow, don't ask me why. ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
