Well I dont have > this book yet, its on order ;-) The 5 deg BTDC is the correct basic timing for 72-3 FI, but the whole process is really too complicated to expect someone to write out for you. You really need the Bentley and you will be happy once you have it. That's an old method, and really not the right way to do it. It actually MAXIMIZES the reverse current thru the generator, discharging the battery at idle. There must be a source of Dwell- Tachometers still available out there. If not, I think I have one old one that I would sell.
