They prevent oil starvation in long high speed corners, and under 
very high acceleration, but these kinds of conditions seldom occur 
with street cars. They slow down the warm up time for the engine, 
but they don't really change the steady state temperature that your 
engine runs at. They drastically reduce the road clearance.

I know Keith likes his, but I would never put one on a street car.

Chances are, you can readjust the old ones. The Bentley manual 
describes the process; it's a LOT of work.
