Any tips on safe > driving with a new engine (300 miles on it)? Make sure it has oil in it and that you have some to spare. If you can, do a valve adjustment and tune-up before you start out. Don't lug the engine on hills, but don't over rev it, either. Of course I realize that if you are a first time owner you really don't have much of an idea of where the 2 limits are. I would be very suspicious of anyone who sells a car that has just 300 miles on the engine. No one would sell a car in this condition unless they knew that there was some "hidden" problem in there.
