A connecting rod would make noise all of the time. I don't think you would
hear a loose valve guide, except maybe some extra valve lash noise. Hmmmmm,
I am still leaning towards a noisy CV joint.
Wait a minute, how about the tail pipe hitting the body as the engine
torques.
