Thanks to all for the input. Since I don't have an oxy, I soaked the nuts with liquid wrench while still hot. 3 hrs later, I takled the bottom nut by removing the right rear wheel, with a box end and an extension pipe. The top nut was takled from the engine compatment with the engine tin pried away. It worked out well and with the newer "front" heater box the car now runs much quieter and smoother. One tends to forget that the heater boxes are an integral part of the exhaust system.
