The late 70's type2 had an electric heater aux. fan, but instead of
mounting it inline, where it would melt it was put in before the heaters
so they moved fresh, cold air only. The type2 engine compartment is
sealed from the exhautt heat and dirt under the car though. I do have
one of these fans, I have planned to put it into the system on my
square. It has these cool little flaps that shut when the fan isnt
running; this feature makes sure that the valuable cooling air doesnt
dissapear through the stillstanding fan.
