A simple binary flag could be used to determine Type. Not difficult for a decent db. Before this gets too wild, what about a Type I listing as well? Personally, people come and go, some think they know it all, some think of it as status, etc. and there ends up being a good number of people who become/are NULL values (they don't exist, basically) and we want our values to be NOT NULL, in db-speak :) It needs to be a list of people who are dedicated, who have the shop manuals and a decent set of tools, and are WILLING TO HELP! We would need some filter to make sure this doesn't get out of hand. Again, personally, there are far too many Type I around that they can easily be fixed in most cities, large or small (after traveling cross-country by myself and having a breakdown I'm speaking from experience). The Type II and III (and IV) are more different than their older sibling (in increasing Type) and require those 'special touches' that Type I owners and shops would miss (as such, T1 have their own 'special touches' as well :) Thus a T3 only db sounds good to me. We could present the idea to the T2 volks but we/they/us need to consider the consequences/impacts/opportunities of such a deal.
