I think this is a great idea! I've been looking for a decent daily driver to add to my VW collection so I can strip the square down and give it a new paint job and a lot of other things that would keep it off the road a little while. Not a whole lotta luck finding any VW that has little rust and is decently priced. So, I'm planning another cross country excursion to California to find one. That's what I did to get my square. Bought that from a family member who a great backyard mechanic, so I had little worries, but who know what could happen. I've sorta been taking notes on the people and places so far, but if Russ is volunteering, we should take him up on that. :) By the way, if anyone is interested in considering a trade of F150 6cyl truck for a type 3, I'll be happy to talk to ya. Diana '66 Square 12v Kansas City, KS ---------------- I have noticed lately, that a few people have been looking for reputable mechanics across the country, or have taken long trips across the country. (With 30 year old cars). With the availablity and ease of the internet, why not develop a data base of known good Volkswagen mechanics. I am sure that the good ones would not be against having their names in a searchable data base...We might even want to add T-3 peoples address (with their permission) so that if a person is on the road, or new in an area, they could contact a local T-3 person if they have problems. We could even set it up with password protection, so spammers couldn't get the data. Just an idea....
