I knew that they had a factory in Europe, but I didn't know that they 
marketed mufflers there also. I guess that makes sense. I suppose 
it is possible that this was some kind of special application muffler 
that made its way by mistake to the US, but it has stamped on it 
something like: "VW 1500 ab 8/64."
