	He lied (or was quoting you Porsche prices or something).

	Well, maybe he didn't exactly lie -- maybe that's what he'd like to
charge you, if you get my meaning.

	They're quite readily available, and exactly the same as the manual
transmission cars.

	So, if I got this straight -- you're here in the S.F. bay area now?
Where was this mechanic?

	The Squareback brake job should be lots like replacing the similar
parts on your Bus.  No brake booster to tend to, though -- Type III never
had these.  Aside from possible dodgy quality of rebuilt calipers, and
unavailability of ready-to-go right rear brake hose, it's pretty simple,
routine brake work.
