It's up to you now to read the FAQ, take a good look at your engine, and determine which seals you need. My guess is that your case and cooler are original, but that someone sold you either the late seals or the adaptor seals, both of which are thinner than the one you need. Used with the spacer washers, these will neither seal nor fit and would make a huge leak. Taking out the washers leaves you with some seals that don't fit, but could probably be forced to seal somewhat. That situation might well only last a couple of years, but it could also lead to blocking the oil passage and oil starvation. Not really the position you really want to be in. The real problem is that most shops will have no idea of what an early type 3 seal looks like and certainly won't be able to come up with one if you need it. I can supply you with the RIGHT ones if you can tell me what case and cooler you have. You can read the FAQ and figure this out for yourself, too, but you still won't know what the right seal looks like until you hold one in your hands. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
